About TINA
Hello, and welcome to my website! I'd like to share a little about myself and what inspired me to write "Rebuilding the Cajun Way." I am passionate about anything that has to do with faith and family. I love the Lord, writing, painting and decorating. My greatest joy is traveling and spending time with my beautiful family, which include my wonderful husband, my grown children and their spouses, and my seven precious grandchildren.
My husband Kevin and I are true Cajuns. Our roots run deep, and we have lived, loved, and raised our children where our ancestors settled along the bayous of South Louisiana. We pride ourselves in taking care of and lifting up our neighbor when they are in need. Living near the Gulf Coast, we have seen our share of the hardship that comes after storms. Our family has been directly affected with destruction, we have sheltered family and friends, and a few of our family members are insurance adjusters who arrive at the scene immediately after destruction to help the families pick up the pieces.
Children are often clueless as to what is taking place around them and emotions are often scattered after such disaster, as parents are forced to tackle the circumstances immediately. Some families are even displaced and forced to stay elsewhere.
This story began as a class writing assignment for fun, and was picked up later and tweaked and has evolved into the story it is today. I believe this little book is a great tool to help parents, teachers, counselors, or organizations to engage in discussion with children who may need a little extra support after experiencing hardship. It offers a promise to children that all will be well again in time, and helps them to understand the treasures of perseverance, faith, hope, and love in the midst of the chaos.
